About ROI Calculator

ROI (Return on Investment) measures the gain or loss generated on an investment relative to its cost. It is one of the most commonly used metrics to evaluate investment performance.

Formula

ROI = (Net Return / Cost of Investment) × 100

Annualized ROI = ((1 + ROI/100)^(1/years) - 1) × 100

FAQs

A "good" ROI depends on the investment type and risk. Historically, stock markets average 10–12% annually. Real estate may yield 8–12%. For low-risk savings, 4–7% is reasonable. Generally, ROI above inflation rate is considered positive.

ROI shows total return over the entire period. Annualized ROI (also called CAGR) normalizes the return to a per-year basis, making it easier to compare investments of different durations.
