Mahesh Manjrekar’s much-anticipated Marathi film Punha Shivajiraje Bhosale has failed to impress at the box office. Despite being the spiritual sequel to the 2009 blockbuster Mi Shivajiraje Bhosale Boltoy, the film’s collections remain disappointing.
Slow Start and Weak Trend
Released on October 31, the film opened with ₹19 lakh on day one. Although it showed slight improvement over the weekend, earning ₹1.17 crore in the first three days, the weekday numbers dropped sharply.
Day-wise box office collection:
- Day 1: ₹19 lakh
- Day 2: ₹52 lakh
- Day 3: ₹46 lakh
- Day 4: ₹10 lakh
- Day 5: ₹16 lakh
Total (India Net): ₹1.43 crore
With GST included, the film’s gross collection stands at around ₹1.68 crore.
Major Loss Compared to Budget
Mounted on a budget of ₹13 crore, Punha Shivajiraje Bhosale has so far recovered only around 6% of its cost. Despite decent audience feedback, the low awareness and lack of strong promotions have limited its reach.
Heading Toward a Major Disaster?
Given its current trend, the chances of recovery appear bleak. While Marathi films often enjoy long theatrical runs, this one seems unlikely to sustain enough momentum to cover its budget.
