Realme has officially confirmed the launch date for its next-generation performance flagship, the Realme Neo 8. Set to debut in China on January 22, 2026, this device is being positioned as a “gaming-focused flagship” that prioritizes display quality, extreme battery life, and a futuristic aesthetic. With a focus on consistent high-frame-rate gaming and high-end internals, the Neo 8 aims to set a new benchmark for the “flagship killer” segment.
The standout feature of the Realme Neo 8 is its industry-first Samsung Sky M14 OLED display. This 6.78-inch panel utilizes Samsung Display’s latest M14 luminescent materials, which offer a 26% improvement in luminous efficiency compared to previous generations.
The screen supports a native 165Hz refresh rate, specifically optimized for popular titles like Free Fire and Peacekeeper Elite. It boasts a staggering 6,500 nits of local peak brightness and 3,800 nits of sunlight brightness, ensuring perfect visibility under any lighting. Additionally, the panel includes a dedicated Magic Touch chip for an 8ms improvement in touch response and features advanced “Green Field Eye Protection” with near-zero flicker.
Under the hood, the Realme Neo 8 is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 chipset. Built on a 3nm process, this SoC has already demonstrated immense power, with Realme claiming an AnTuTu benchmark score of 3.58 million points.
To complement this power, the device will offer multiple configurations, including up to 24GB of LPDDR5X RAM and up to 1TB of UFS 4.1 storage. This setup is designed to provide a “no-compromise” experience for gamers and heavy multitaskers, ensuring thermal efficiency and sustained performance during long sessions.
In a significant leap for the smartphone industry, the Realme Neo 8 is equipped with a massive 8,000mAh battery. This capacity is notably higher than the 5,000mAh to 6,000mAh standards found in most current flagships.
Despite the enormous capacity, the phone maintains a manageable profile with a thickness of 8.3mm. It supports 80W wired fast charging, and for gamers, it includes bypass charging technology. This allows the phone to be powered directly from the charger without heating up the battery, extending both the battery’s lifespan and the device’s thermal performance during gameplay.
While the Neo 8 is gaming-centric, it doesn’t compromise on photography. The rear camera module features a triple-camera setup:
On the front, the device houses a 16MP selfie camera tucked inside a punch-hole cutout. The camera island also carries the “HYPERIMAGE+” branding, indicating Realme’s latest image processing algorithms.
Realme is leaning heavily into a “Cyber” aesthetic for the Neo 8. The phone will be available in three colors: Cyber Purple, Mecha Gray, and Origin White.
The design features a semi-transparent rear panel that reveals internal patterns, paired with a metal frame for a premium feel. A signature feature making its return is the Awakening Halo RGB lighting, located next to the camera module. This LED system can be customized to pulse for notifications, calls, charging status, or even sync with in-game actions.
