Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 8 To Be Thinner and Lighter Than Galaxy Z Fold 7; Leaked Specifications and Launch Details

South Korean tech giant Samsung is reportedly preparing to launch its next-generation foldable smartphone, the Galaxy Z Fold 8, in 2026. The upcoming device will succeed this year’s Galaxy Z Fold 7 and is expected to bring major upgrades in both design and performance to boost global sales.

Galaxy Z Fold 8 to Be Thinner and Lighter

According to a report by South Korean publication The Bell, the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 8 will be around 10% thinner and lighter than its predecessor, the Galaxy Z Fold 7, which measured 4.2mm in thickness when unfolded.

Samsung has reportedly set a target to ship 6.7 million units of the Galaxy Z Fold 8, which is a 10% increase compared to the Fold 7. This clearly shows the company’s ambition to expand its dominance in the foldable smartphone market in the coming year.

Larger 5,000mAh Battery and New Display Technology

Recent reports also suggest that the Galaxy Z Fold 8 will come equipped with a 5,000mAh battery, a significant upgrade over the 4,400mAh battery used in the Fold 7.

The phone is said to be manufactured using laser-drilling metal plate technology, which will help reduce the crease on the flexible inner display. This will not only improve the overall durability but also enhance the user experience with a smoother fold.

Return of S-Pen Support

The Galaxy Z Fold 7 was launched without S-Pen support in order to make the phone slimmer and lighter. However, reports now suggest that Samsung will reintroduce S-Pen compatibility with the Galaxy Z Fold 8. This addition will make the foldable more appealing to professionals and creative users who prefer stylus input for productivity tasks.

Samsung Aims to Stay Ahead of Apple’s iPhone Fold

While some speculate that Samsung’s strategy may be a move to get ahead of Apple’s rumored iPhone Fold, reports claim that the company’s focus is simply on strengthening its premium foldable smartphone lineup. The Galaxy Z Fold 8 will reportedly play a central role in Samsung’s future foldable business strategy.
