Samsung Galaxy Z Fold7, Flip7 Launch: Major Innovations in Design, Display and Durability

Galaxy Z Fold7 and Flip7 Bring Record-Breaking Innovations in Foldable Tech, Says Samsung

Samsung has officially unveiled its latest foldable flagships — the Galaxy Z Fold7 and Galaxy Z Flip7 — calling them the thinnest and lightest foldables in their respective categories. In a new announcement, the company has detailed the key innovations that enabled this generation’s leap forward in design, durability, and internal engineering.

Lighter, Slimmer, and More Efficient

Samsung says its journey toward foldable perfection began in 2019 with the first Galaxy Fold. Since then, the goal has been simple: bigger displays in slimmer, more portable devices.

  • Galaxy Z Flip7 now features a 300mAh denser battery, yet the phone is even slimmer — measuring just 6.5mm when open and 13.7mm when closed.
  • It incorporates a new ultra-high-density circuit board to eliminate internal space wastage.
  • The FlexHinge used is Samsung’s thinnest ever, being 29% slimmer than the one in the Flip6.

Additionally, the Infinity Cover Display on the Flip7 is edge-to-edge, with bezels reduced to just 1.25mm — the thinnest bezels on any foldable to date.

Galaxy Z Fold7: Engineering Masterclass

The Galaxy Z Fold7 is nearly 50% thinner than the original Fold and features a new 21:9 aspect ratio for its cover display.

  • Its third-gen Armor FlexHinge is 27% thinner and 43% lighter than Fold6’s, using new alloy components that are 14% stronger to handle repetitive folding.
  • A wing plate structure reduces the crease and makes the screen flatter.
  • The main foldable display is now 39% thinner, while the Ultra Thin Glass (UTG) is 50% thicker, improving screen clarity and durability.

Industry First: 200MP Camera in a Foldable

Samsung also claims the Fold7 is the first foldable to feature a 200MP main camera — a breakthrough achieved through a complete structural redesign.

The Fold7’s external screen is protected by Corning Gorilla Glass Ceramic 2, and the frame is made from Advanced Armor Aluminum, offering 10% more toughness than the Fold6.
